Episode 2 Companion Article – Responsibility and Accountability as part of the Warrior Ethos

Here is a hard truth: The world doesn’t owe you anything. Your experience on Earth will always be unique to you and therefore you are the only one who can earn a brand new mentality. There will be people here to help you (me for example) however your helpers can only ever serve as your trail guides. You alone must choose to walk this path.

It may seem scary or impossible, but you have the power to activate your higher self by taking responsibility as the only person who can heal your anxiety and holding yourself accountable for your actions as you heal.

Responsibility is easy to say and harder to adopt fully. As a recovering warrior, you must meditate on the fact that you are the only person in this moment, on this Earth, in this galaxy and indeed in the entire observable Universe that can truly save you. Your therapist, friends and family can only take you as far as they have gone themselves. Make a commitment to yourself that you will heal so that you can one day LEAD them through their own mental health issues.

Accountability during recovery is also important. You are going to have days where you just don’t want to deal with anyone or anything and will act like a jerk to people. Don’t let yourself get away with bad behavior. Make amends. Call up your friend and apologize for gossip or treating them poorly in the past. If you make amends then that is positive growth, however if you have damaged a relationship too far to be repaired, you must accept that fact and move forward. People will be able to see your desire for growth in your actions and passion in life. Keep working towards that growth, but always hold yourself accountable both good and bad.
