Hi Warriors. A considerable amount of time has passed since my last post. I am doing well and feeling great and I hope you are too.
When thinking about your anxious mindset it is important to remember that all the feelings you experience with fight, flight or freeze are simply tools to figure out who you really are. No matter how scary the feelings get, you will always be in control. Our ego has a hard time being the copilot when our body takes over and implements defense measures, but just because your ego is uncomfortable doesn’t mean that your anxiety will overcome your experience of being human. Sometimes not being so control focused can help you be a better observer of how your body is supposed to function as opposed to trying to override your sensations due to a need to understand the fear and overcome the discomfort.
Discovering what your anxious mind is trying to teach you requires a warrior attitude in embracing discomfort and learning from the experience. Imagine being lost in the woods and the sun is setting. You can hear the faint sound of running water in the distance and immediately your mind starts racing (what if questions, rapid heart beat etc) and you try to stay focused on the sound of the water as you make your way towards the sound. The water is your true warrior self and the surrounding woods and discomfort is the world your anxiety produces. There is always a way through the emotions of being lost and afraid but you must focus on your true warrior self.

As the moments pass you are getting closer to the trail you are meant to follow. To get to that trail there will be a tremendous amount of discomfort, but when you are solely focused on achieving your objective (healing from past trauma) your sense of understanding and belonging in the world will increase. As these moments bring you closer to your true self, your understanding of who you are will increase and all of a sudden all those big scary emotions you once felt associated with anxiety will disappear and you will earn your peace of mind.
Your quest to heal is important and is an individual journey. The empowering moments you feel along the way will help strengthen your warrior spirit and serve as an inspiration to others. You may even discover deeper parts of humanity that I haven’t seen and that thought alone inspires me to keep moving forward on my own trail.
Embrace discomfort. Embrace your journey. You are important and what you are doing on your good days and bad days matters.
