The importance of traveling alone as an anxiety warrior

Hey folks. Greetings from Reston Virginia. I am currently at a work conference and will be coming home in a few days. I know it has been a minute since I have posted. I am doing well and I hope you are too.

As anxiety sufferers we enjoy things we perceive to be in our control. For many of us that control may mean not socializing as often as other people or refusing to fly, drive or ride a boat to different locations. As anxiety warriors we must thrive on doing what makes us uncomfortable especially when we are alone.

Solo travel is a huge fear for many people

Most people travel in a group or at least with a friend, family member or romantic partner. Only a select few people choose to travel somewhere solo. Solo travel has many benefits for your recovery:

  • Realizing that fear of something is worse than the thing itself
  • Truly living on your own two feet while working on mastering your anxious mind
  • Forcing yourself into a new experience
  • Returning home feels twice as good as coming home as a group

Solo travel helps strengthen your relationships

When we get out of our comfort zone with traveling alone, we can truly appreciate how much our relationships matter in life. It would be strange for someone to only prefer to be alone, but every once in a while taking time to be by yourself can help your healing tremendously.

Be proud you faced your fear once you return home

A huge benefit of traveling alone is the fact that once your journey is over your confidence and self love will be in the majority of your thoughts for a long time. Only you know how much fear you had before the journey and once your journey is over the joy you can feel from conquering that fear is incredible.

Get out there and explore warrior. You never know who you will meet.
